9 Reasons why Prayers are unanswered:

Jesus Christ said:  And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.

Facts:

  • God(through His word) repeatedly calls us to pray
  • God invites us to ask
  • God promises to answer our prayers
  • God is able to help in any given situation

Question:

Despite the Lord’s willingness to answer prayer, it is obvious that some prayers have gone unanswered.  Why is this?  Why doesn’t God grant all our petitons?

Reason #1–“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways.” says the Lord.  (Isaiah 55: 8 )Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  (Matthew 6:10)

Reason#2–“Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear.  But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.” (Isaiah 59 :1-2)

Reason#3–“If I had thought about doing anything sinful, the Lord would not have listened to me.”(Psalm 66: 18 )

Reason #4–“When you pray for things, you don’t get them because you want them for the wrong reasons-for your own pleasure.” (James 4:3)

Reason #5–“Therefore if you bring your gift ot the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way.  First be reconciled to your brother, and then come offer your gift.” (Matthew 5:23-25)

Reason #6–“Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as  being heirs together of the grace of life, in order that your prayers may not be hindered and cut off” (1 Peter 2:7)

Reason #7–“For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].” (Mark 11:24)

Reason #8–“The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].” (James 5:16)

Reason #9–“Also Jesus told them a parable to the effect that they ought  always pray and not to turn coward (faint, lose heart, and give up).” (Luke 18:1-2)
